Facelift (facelift)

CenterPlast offers you facelift with and without platismaplasty. Mini facelifts or eyebrow lifts are also offered.

What is a facelift?

At the beginning of every treatment there is the inquiry of your change wishes and the analysis of your individual anatomical conditions. A facelift is an effective method to restore youthful facial contours and can be combined with a skin treatment, neck lift or volume build-up to achieve an optimal result.

The incision starts at the hairline of the temples and runs through the natural folds in front of the ear and behind the ear in the hairline. The technique depends on the desired changes. The cheek tissue can be brought to its original position via a short access (mini face lift). The restoration of youthful contours of the lower part of the face and the corners of the mouth requires access to the back of the ear. For a natural and lasting rejuvenated appearance, microsurgical technique is used to loosen and reposition the deep connective tissue (SMAS).

How can you prepare for the facelift?

  • All your questions about possible complications and alternative treatments should be answered in advance.
  • Keep nicotine and alcohol consumption to a minimum!
  • If necessary, take hormone-containing medication (the pill) temporarily.
  • Blood-thinning medication (e.g. ASS, Thomapyrin®) must be discontinued at least 10 days before the operation after consultation with your doctor.
  • Vitamin preparations (A, E) and food supplements (omega-3 fatty acids, St. John's wort preparations, etc.) must be discontinued at least 4 weeks before the operation.
  • Surgery limits the ability to travel by air. Therefore, do not plan any professional or private air travel during the 6 weeks after the operation!
  • Lay down ice cubes or cooling pads at home ready to cool the skin after the operation!

How is a facelift performed?

  • As a rule, surgery is performed under general anesthesia. This is associated with an inpatient stay of about one day.
  • A mini facelift can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia and twilight sleep.
  • The duration of the operation varies depending on the extent and scope of the intervention and can range from 2 to 7 hours.

What do you have to consider after a facelift?

  • An elevation of the upper body of about 30 degrees (also during sleep) over 5 days is beneficial for the decongestant and wound healing.
  • Drainage tubes behind the ear are usually removed after 24 hours.
  • The skin threads are removed approximately one week after the operation.
  • Showering is possible immediately before the wound control from the 1st postoperative day.
  • A previously adjusted compression mask should be worn 24 hours a day for 1 week, then at night for 1 week.
  • Lymph drainage from the 14th postoperative day supports the decongestant.
  • Scar care (scar massage, sun protection, silicone overlay) from the 3rd postoperative week onwards helps to create inconspicuous scars.
  • Bending down, lifting heavy loads and sporting activities must be avoided as much as possible for three weeks, possibly longer if swelling still exists.
  • After about 2, better 3 weeks you can go back to work. By then the swellings and the coarsest effusions have disappeared.
  • Postoperative clinical check-ups are recommended on the 3rd postoperative day and after 1, 2, 6 weeks as well as after 6 and 12 months.
  • Sport, saunas, swimming, heavy work and sunbathing should be avoided for at least 6 weeks.
