Eyebrow Correction

As an expression of courtesy, interest and esteem, the interviewees look each other in the eye. The eyes are a key part of the first impression and convey many forms of expression such as joy, sadness and surprise. Scientific studies have shown that eye contact increases physical arousal and harmonises the brain activity of those involved. The messages of the eyes are conveyed, among other things, by the shape and position of the eyebrows and the size of the eyes. Long and dense eyelashes and smooth skin have a youthful and beguiling effect.

The ideal eyebrow shape and position varies between man and woman. The average distance from the upper edge of the eyebrow to the hairline is five centimetres for women and six centimetres for men. In women, the eyebrows begin above the inner corner of the eye and protrude slightly beyond the outer corner of the eye. The eyebrows tend to have a stronger middle section and a thin lateral section. Lateral rising eyebrows are perceived as youthful and attractive in women. In men, the eyebrows are flatter and more pronounced at the sides. In women, the highest point of the eyebrow moves outwards with increasing age and an imaginary line between the two corners of the eye falls off to the side. The decreasing elasticity of the skin and connective tissue reduces the eye opening by about ten percent between the ages of 20 and 60.

The shape and position of the eyebrows vary greatly depending on age, sex and ethnicity. The beauty ideals of the eyebrows are influenced by culture and current fashion trends. There are no ideal universal beauty features. Younger people under the age of 30 prefer low and slightly angled eyebrows, while older people prefer more curved eyebrows. A change in eyebrows should not only take into account personal characteristics, but should also harmoniously fit adjacent regions such as the forehead, eyelids, corner of the eye and temples.
