Keloid: also called scar proliferation

A scar proliferation (keloid) refers to scar tissue that grows beyond the edges of the wound. Scarring growths occur preferentially on the ears, sternum or shoulders in certain predispositions.

Scar growths are characterized by a tendency to recur and can be treated with injections, compression and silicone or radiation.
