Costs

What does a consultation cost?

  • A consultation with examination and preparation of a treatment plan for non-invasive treatments (muscle relaxants, fillers, fat-away injections and therapy with the body’s own blood) costs €69.
  • A consultation with examination and preparation of a treatment plan for surgical procedures costs €99.
  • The consultation relates to one body region and the specific associated treatment proposal. We charge €188 for consultations for the treatment of two body regions (e.g. breast and abdomen).

Cash payment is requested on the day of the consultation. You will of course receive a receipt of payment.

Payment method

For amounts up to 250 € we ask for cash payment. Amounts over €250 can also be paid by EC card or PayPal.

The fee assessment according to §2 GOÄ includes the following remuneration components:

  • a medical history interview
  • a comprehensive investigation
  • the creation of a treatment plan
  • a detailed consultation
  • the reimbursement of expenses
  • the value added tax

What our patients say

Free consultation

A consultation on aesthetic treatments is a medically appropriate health service (SINGeL service). It is contrary to professional law and violates the principle of collegiality (Section 29 of the Professional Code of Conduct) if a doctor offers SINGeL services free of charge. In accordance with the Therapeutic Products Advertising Act § 7 para. 1, it is not permitted to offer benefits and other services free of charge. The scale of fees for doctors (GOÄ) is the basis for the calculation of healthcare services. The rates according to the GOÄ may not be undercut in an unfair manner (§ 12 GOÄ para. 1). The initial consultation fee is independent of any subsequent surgical decision and only covers the costs of the initial consultation.

Cancellation of appointment

We schedule 30 to 60 minutes for a consultation. We endeavor to offer all patients a prompt appointment. This is only possible because our patients show up on time for their appointments or cancel in good time if things don’t work out. Cancellation of an appointment is free of charge if it is made at least 48 hours before the agreed appointment. Cancellations can simply be made via the contact form or by telephone. Since we are an appointment-only practice, it is customary and legally compliant to charge you a cancellation fee if you do not show up or cancel at short notice. The cancellation fee will be waived on presentation of a medical certificate, a certificate from the authorities or confirmation from your employer that you were unable to attend the appointment. Please note that a corresponding certificate must be submitted within 14 days.

Why can the costs differ from one patient to another?

The surgical plan and the associated precise cost calculation are based on a detailed doctor-patient consultation and a complete physical examination. In particular, the extent and localization of the soft tissue excess and the skin quality vary from patient to patient. Scarred adhesions from previous operations, physical condition and personal lifestyle habits can affect the duration and risk of an operation. The treatment wishes and goals may differ from one patient to another.

A flat rate/fixed price/fixed price is not only untrustworthy, but also violates competition law § 3a and § 5 (1) no. 2 of the Unfair Competition Act (UWG) and § 5 (2) sentence 1 of the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ) (LG Düsseldorf, 38 O 6/12 U). Our price calculations are appropriate to the difficulty and time required for the individual services. We offer you fair and standard market prices.

Why are two operations at separate intervals more expensive than combining two operations at the same time?

Every treatment requires a prompt, conscientious examination, documentation, treatment planning and, of course, your consent. If two procedures are carried out at different times, all precautions must be repeated. Of course, the numerous preparations on the day of the operation must also be repeated for your safety in the case of two separate operations. Every operation also requires medical aftercare and monitoring of the healing process. To illustrate this, consider the example of a tummy tuck with liposuction (A) is taken. The cost of liposuction (B) and later abdominoplasty (C) are therefore higher than the cost of a tummy tuck with liposuction (A). For these reasons, the following calculations do not reflect the actual costs: A = B + C or B = A – C.

How can I compare the prices of cosmetic surgery?

We encourage all our patients to obtain a second opinion so that they can make an informed decision about which doctor to choose. It is quite normal that you will receive different offers. Compare the type and scope of the service. Take a close look to avoid negative surprises and double costs due to an incorrect intervention.

Cheap is not always good. The quality of the service is much more difficult to compare than the price. Ask about the surgeon’s training and experience. You can find an overview of other quality features on our quality page. The treatment costs are relevant to the decision, but trust in the doctor should ultimately be the deciding factor.

Cosmetic surgery abroad to save costs?

Many a person has brought back a supposed bargain from vacation that turned out to be a flop. If it was just a souvenir, the trouble is quickly forgotten. When it comes to your own health and appearance, the consequences can be far-reaching. Many providers of cosmetic surgery aggressively advertise for German patients in seemingly luxuriously furnished private clinics. Before and after pictures are presented as if in an online catalog, without explaining the risks of surgery. However, little, if any, information is provided on training standards, hygiene standards, staff qualifications and experience, and the quality and maintenance of medical equipment. There are many surprises on site. Information is provided by semi-skilled assistants who have never performed the procedure themselves. After the operation, the surgeon is difficult or impossible to reach. Language barriers, hidden costs and a lack of follow-up care are further risks that patients take abroad.

When are the costs of an operation covered by health insurance?

Health insurance companies pay the costs of medically necessary treatments for illnesses. Under this condition, the treatment must not exceed what is medically absolutely necessary. The operations that are covered by health insurance are therefore reconstructive operations in which justified aesthetic claims are not the main focus. You can find out more on our page Obligation of health insurance companies to provide benefits.
