Fat embolism – released fat droplets

During liposuction or fat injection, fat droplets can enter the bloodstream. If a kind of blockage develops, it is called a fat embolism.

Via the bloodstream, released tissue fats can basically reach any part of the body and interrupt the blood supply to the respective organ.

Serious consequences must be expected in this case. The impact on lifestyle depends on the organs affected (for example, stroke, heart attack, intestinal infarction, ocular infarction, occlusion of a leg artery).
