Advantages of vibration-assisted liposuction (SAFELipo®)
With the innovative SAFELipo® method, we stay one step ahead and offer you a particularly gentle and effective way to remove stubborn fat deposits and harmoniously contour your body. In this procedure, fat tissue is loosened through vibration, allowing for precise removal of fat cells. The method is based on the principle of power-assisted liposuction (PAL), whose superiority in terms of tissue preservation and surgeon efficiency has been demonstrated in clinical studies (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, PMC).
This method offers numerous advantages:
- Minimally invasive and gentle: The use of fine microcannulas preserves the surrounding tissue and reduces the risk of swelling and bruising.
- High precision: Specially designed cannulas gently expand the tissue and enable even fat removal – resulting in precise, aesthetically pleasing, and natural body contours.
- Safe procedure: Pre-shaped cannulas enhance the safety of the treatment. International guidelines, such as those from BAPRAS/BAAPS, confirm that the choice of cannula technique is a key safety factor.
- Fast recovery: The gentle surgical technique allows for a shorter healing time, enabling patients to return to their daily routine after just a few days. This is especially beneficial for individuals with busy schedules and limited time for recovery.
- Low risk of tissue damage and bruising: The vibration loosens the fat tissue, helping to avoid irregularities and uneven results. The design of the cannulas protects blood vessels and minimizes bruising.
- Long-lasting results: Since fat cells are permanently removed, the results are long-lasting, provided a stable body weight is maintained.
Liposuction procedure
Consultation
We begin every treatment with a comprehensive consultation. During this appointment, we take the time to understand your wishes and expectations in detail. Together, we assess whether liposuction is the right treatment option for you and explain the entire procedure step by step. Of course, you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions, so you feel well-informed and confident from the very beginning.
If you travel frequently for work or live further away, we also offer virtual consultations, allowing you to attend your appointment conveniently and flexibly.
Preparation
We recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications for two weeks prior to the procedure. However, never stop taking such medications without consulting your physician. At the same time, you should also stop smoking. Studies show that abstaining from nicotine significantly improves wound healing and reduces the risk of complications.
The Surgery
The procedure is performed under sedation (twilight anesthesia) and takes approximately 1 to 3 hours, depending on the individual case. After precisely marking the areas to be treated, the fat deposits are carefully thinned using fine cannulas. The small incisions are then closed with delicate sutures and dressed.
The surgery can also be combined with other procedures. For example, we often perform liposuction together with a thigh lift or an abdominoplasty. After the procedure, you will remain with us for a few hours for monitoring, after which you can go home.
After the Procedure
- After the procedure, it is important to give your body time to recover. We provide detailed instructions for proper aftercare and monitor the healing process through several follow-up appointments to ensure optimal wound healing. Postoperative medical checks usually begin on the third day after surgery, with the final appointment taking place 12 months later. Regular follow-up examinations are an essential part of a successful recovery.
- After about one week, most patients are generally able to resume social activities. Sutures are removed after two weeks.
- You will receive compression garments from us, which should be worn for six weeks. During this period, avoid strenuous physical activity, heavy labor, as well as sauna visits and sunbathing.
- Long flights can increase the risk of thrombosis. Therefore, we advise against air travel during the first four weeks after surgery.

Are there specific risks or side effects associated with liposuction?
Liposuction is considered one of the safest surgical procedures, provided that specific safety measures are observed. Systematic reviews confirm that serious complications are rare when performed by experienced surgeons and with appropriate suction volumes (Annals of Plastic Surgery, PMC).
At CenterPlast, you will be cared for by a highly experienced team of plastic surgeons, so there is no need to fear serious complications. Thanks to our precise techniques and years of experience, potential risks are minimized from the very beginning. Nevertheless, certain side effects can never be entirely ruled out.
Possible temporary effects include pain, bruising, and swelling, which usually resolve within one to two weeks. The compression garments we provide help reduce swelling and support recovery.
Your well-being is our top priority. Our goal is always to provide a safe and positive treatment experience, ensuring that you feel well cared for and supported at every stage of your journey.
Costs of Liposuction
The cost of liposuction in Saarland depends on the treatment area, the individual wishes of our patients, and thus the overall extent of the procedure. Health insurance usually only covers costs for medically necessary treatments. Therefore, liposuction performed for aesthetic reasons must typically be paid for privately.
An exception may apply in certain cases of lipedema, for which the current AWMF S2k guideline provides specific recommendations for surgical treatment. Specific pricing can be provided during a personal consultation.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
Liposuction permanently removes the treated fat cells. Since adult fat cells do not regenerate, the results remain long-lasting as long as your weight remains stable. According to the ASPS, the contours achieved are generally permanent once swelling has fully subsided, provided there is no significant weight gain.
This method is particularly suitable for individuals who want to target the final, stubborn fat deposits and prefer a precise, gentle approach. Ideal candidates are near their normal weight, have good skin elasticity, and wish to correct specific problem areas that do not respond to diet and exercise.
Yes, at CenterPlast, we frequently perform combined procedures, such as liposuction in conjunction with a thigh lift or abdominoplasty. Combined procedures can reduce overall recovery time, as only one healing period is required. The safety of such combined procedures has been studied and is considered acceptable when performed by experienced specialists (PubMed: Combined Procedures Safety).
The results of liposuction become more noticeable each day. After approximately four weeks, the outcome is largely visible. However, the final results only appear once all swelling has fully subsided, which typically takes 3 to 6 months. Consistent use of the compression garments supports even skin retraction and helps accelerate this process.
Typical treatment areas include the abdomen, thighs, hips, and back. Additionally, the SAFELipo method is suitable for areas such as the upper arms, chin, flanks, and knees. The decision on which areas to treat is made together during a personal consultation, based on your individual assessment and your personal goals.
An outpatient procedure reduces stress on the body and allows for faster recovery in the comfort of your own home. It also lowers the risk of infection compared to an inpatient stay. For patients with demanding work schedules, this means a shorter downtime and a quicker return to daily activities.
In general, up to eight percent of body weight in fat can be removed per liposuction procedure. The amount of fat that can be safely removed varies from patient to patient and depends on factors such as body weight, overall health, and the treatment area. International safety guidelines recommend a maximum volume relative to body weight to minimize the risk of complications (PMC: Safety in Liposuction). The exact amount of fat to be removed is determined during a personal consultation.
Both the target areas and the tissue characteristics differ. In women, fat is often stored hormonally in the hips, thighs, buttocks, and abdomen. Female fat tissue is generally softer and more evenly distributed, allowing for precise contouring. In men, excess fat is often concentrated in the abdomen, flanks, and chest (gynecomastia). Male fat tissue is typically firmer and more fibrous, making the procedure technically more challenging and requiring precise techniques.
During a personal consultation, we analyze your individual body structure and develop a treatment plan tailored precisely to your goals and anatomical characteristics.
