Preparation
We recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications for two weeks prior to the procedure. However, never stop taking such medications without consulting your physician. At the same time, you should also stop smoking. Studies show that abstaining from nicotine significantly improves wound healing and reduces the risk of complications.
The Surgery
The procedure is performed under sedation (twilight anesthesia) and takes approximately 1 to 3 hours, depending on the individual case. After precisely marking the areas to be treated, the fat deposits are carefully thinned using fine cannulas. The small incisions are then closed with delicate sutures and dressed.
The surgery can also be combined with other procedures. For example, we often perform liposuction together with a thigh lift or an abdominoplasty. After the procedure, you will remain with us for a few hours for monitoring, after which you can go home.
After the Procedure
- After the procedure, it is important to give your body time to recover. We provide detailed instructions for proper aftercare and monitor the healing process through several follow-up appointments to ensure optimal wound healing. Postoperative medical checks usually begin on the third day after surgery, with the final appointment taking place 12 months later. Regular follow-up examinations are an essential part of a successful recovery.
- After about one week, most patients are generally able to resume social activities. Sutures are removed after two weeks.
- You will receive compression garments from us, which should be worn for six weeks. During this period, avoid strenuous physical activity, heavy labor, as well as sauna visits and sunbathing.
- Long flights can increase the risk of thrombosis. Therefore, we advise against air travel during the first four weeks after surgery.
