Microneedling for firmer skin
Microneedling results in firmer, more elastic skin and a finer skin texture. Under local anesthesia, the finest needles are used to create micro-injuries to the skin, which stimulate the body’s own repair mechanisms. It uses the effect that tiny injuries stimulate the skin to regenerate more quickly. This can be used to treat wrinkles and scars. The stitches made by the many micro-needles only go one to three millimeters deep, which is just enough to stimulate the skin cells to form new collagen. This makes the skin look fresher and younger after a while. Scars become less noticeable and softer. Creams containing vitamin A and C and any other products used in conjunction with medical needling support the success of the treatment.

What is microneedling?
Surgical needling has a greater penetration depth than medical needling. The therapy is therefore more effective and does not need to be repeated as often.
In contrast to dermabrasion, no healthy skin layers are removed. Unlike conventional laser treatments, the natural skin pigments are not damaged. Medical or surgical needling leads to an accumulation of cells in the epidermis, a more even structure of the subcutaneous tissue, a transformation of collagen and the production of certain growth factors.
The treatment is particularly successful for skin with large pores and fine wrinkles around the mouth. Scars and stretch marks also become less noticeable after the treatment. The result becomes visible after about three months, as the collagen transformation takes time. A four-week pre-treatment and post-treatment with a cream containing vitamin A and vitamin C increases the effect.
Surgical needling
Frequently asked questions relate to possible side effects or rare complications. However, as the body’s own substance does not differ from stabilized hyaluronic acid, as found in the products, only a slight swelling and slight redness is generally to be expected after the injection treatment if the skin is sensitive. As a preventative measure, we recommend cooling the treated areas before and after treatment. In most patients, the mild side effects have subsided by the next day. Make-up can be applied as usual from the following day. Since non-cross-linked and low-concentration hyaluronic acid is injected into superficial layers of the skin, slight irregularities must be expected after the treatment. A light massage usually causes small nodules to disappear by the third day. Inflammation or allergic reactions are extremely unlikely. Injury to small blood vessels can never be completely ruled out with an injection. Nevertheless, bruises are rare. The risk of vascular occlusion during Skinbooster treatment is estimated to be less than 1:10,000. The aesthetic medicine specialists at CenterPlast always take every possible precaution to avoid any risks. Thanks to their comprehensive training, many years of experience and modern technical equipment, the CenterPlast specialists are well prepared for any emergency.
Microneedling procedure
Preparation
- All your questions about possible complications and alternative treatments should be answered in advance.
- Keep nicotine and alcohol consumption to a minimum.
- A four-week pre-treatment with a cream containing vitamin A and vitamin C is beneficial.
- Blood-thinning medication (e.g. ASA, Thomapyrin®) must be discontinued at least 10 days before treatment after consultation with your doctor.
- Vitamin preparations (A, E) and dietary supplements (omega-3 fatty acids, St. John’s wort preparations, etc.) should be discontinued 4 weeks before microneedling.
- If you suffer from cold sores (herpes), you should definitely let us know so that we can take preventive measures.
Treatment
A complete facial treatment takes about 45 minutes.
The treatment of a body region can be carried out under local anesthesia and twilight sleep.
Due to the greater depth of penetration than with medical needling, general anesthesia is recommended when treating several areas of the body.
After the procedure
- After microneedling, the skin is kept moist with a bandage to prevent crust formation.
- Skin oil containing vitamins A, C and E should be applied three times a day for the first week, then twice a day.
- Showering is already possible on the first postoperative day.
- This is followed by regular checks on your well-being and the results of the operation.
- Swelling and reddening of the skin should be expected in the first 7 days. You can usually go back to work after 7 days.
- It is important not to cover the redness with make-up in the first week so that the make-up particles do not lead to a so-called scar tattoo.
- Excessive UV radiation is dangerous for at least 3 months.
