Blepharochalasis – excess skin on the upper eyelid
Blepharochalasis is the technical term for excess skin on the eyelid. The eyelid skin sags with age and can be more common in families.
The field of vision may be restricted if there is a lot of excess skin. Increased tension in the eyelid retractors can lead to increased headaches. Headaches are often caused by compensatory overtension of the forehead muscles.
Overtension of the forehead muscles encourages the formation of deep forehead wrinkles. Blepharochalasis can be treated by blepharoplasty.
