Fat embolism – released fat droplets
During liposuction or fat injections, fat droplets can enter the bloodstream. If a type of blockage develops, this is referred to as a fat embolism.
Via the bloodstream, released tissue fats can reach any part of the body and interrupt the blood supply to the respective organ.
Serious consequences must be expected. The effects on lifestyle depend on the organs affected (e.g. stroke, heart attack, intestinal infarction, eye infarction, occlusion of a leg artery).
