Skinbooster treatment Saarland

Skinbooster from a specialist in Saarbrücken

The body’s own hyaluronic acid and collagen are the key to healthy, firm and youthful skin. However, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases with age and due to environmental influences such as UV radiation and air pollution. Collagen gives the skin firmness and elasticity. Enzymes called matrix metalloproteases (MMPs) break the collagen fibers into short pieces. At the same time, the connective tissue cells (fibroblasts) produce less collagen.

Hyaluronic acid offers a wide range of treatment options. For this reason, it is important to consult experienced specialists who will choose the optimal treatment for your skin and create an individual treatment plan for your desired result. On the Filler FAQ page you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about hyaluronic acid and its alternatives.

Scientific studies have shown that hyaluronic acid injections stimulate the connective tissue cells to produce collagen. Four weeks after an injection, the formation of collagen increases tenfold. The newly produced collagen has a half-life of around 15 years [1] . Injecting small hyaluronic acid chains into the superficial layers of the skin gives the skin more freshness, moisture and elasticity and reduces wrinkles [2] . Hyaluronic acid is therefore often referred to as a beauty booster.

What our patients say

Who is suitable for a Skinbooster treatment?

Numerous studies indicate that aesthetic treatments such as skin boosters not only improve appearance, but also have a positive impact on first impressions, quality of life, self-esteem and mood [3] .

Skinbooster treatments can be performed on any adult. Between the ages of 30 and 40, the skin’s moisture content and elasticity begin to decrease. A Skinbooster treatment prevents the formation of skin wrinkles. The better the skin is cared for at an early age, the later and the fewer signs of ageing the skin will show. From the age of 40 to 45, more concentrated hyaluronic acids can be used, depending on the skin condition. The treatment frequency and the treatment regions are adapted to individual needs. This can reduce existing wrinkles. The skin becomes smoother, firmer, tighter and more youthful. The positive effect is reflected in the patients’ fresh appearance.

For special occasions, such as a wedding, a vacation or a photo shoot, we recommend having the hyaluronic acid treatment carried out a few months in advance. This allows the full effect of the treatment to unfold by then. What’s more, early application gives you enough time to repeat the procedure before the event if you want a more intensive effect.

Which areas of the body are suitable for treatment with Skinbooster?

The effect of hyaluronic acid can be demonstrated on the entire body. The Skinbooster treatment is therefore carried out on the areas of the body that suffer most from harmful environmental influences such as UV radiation and air pollution. Commonly treated areas include:

  • In the facial area, a rejuvenation of the skin and a preventive treatment of the cheeks, mouth area, eyes and forehead can be carried out.
  • A Skinbooster treatment gives the lips a natural and fresh look and a smooth texture. Hyaluronic acid improves the elasticity and moisture of the red lips.
  • On the neck and décolleté, regeneration of dry and photodamaged skin is visible when hyaluronic acid is injected.
  • On the back of the hand, skin hydration and elasticity are improved.
  • Acne scars are significantly reduced and become virtually invisible in places.

Which products are used in a Skinbooster treatment?

The effect of the Skinbooster treatment is determined by the properties of hyaluronic acid. Short hyaluronic acid chains provide more moisture [4] . Hyaluronic acids that are used as fillers cause a significant increase in volume due to the longer hyaluronic acid chains and the higher concentration. The concentration of hyaluronic acid in skin boosters ranges from 13.5 to 20 milligrams per milliliter. Higher concentrations and cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid chains slow down the breakdown and thus prolong the effect. Certain skin boosters are infused with sugar molecules (glycerin) to enhance the skin’s rejuvenating properties. Glycerol is a natural substance of the skin [5] . Glycerol moisturizes and supports the skin’s barrier function. Low-concentration skin boosters are more suitable for thin skin, superficial injections or young people. The following high-quality and certified skin boosters are used in the CenterPlast:

  • Belotero® Hydro, Merz company, concentration: 18mg/ml, additive: glycerine 21mg/ml
  • Belotero® Revive, Merz company, concentration: 20mg/ml, additive: glycerine 17.5mg/ml
  • Juvéderm® Volite™, Allergan company, concentration: 12mg/ml
  • Juvéderm® Hydrate, Allergan, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, concentration: 13.5mg/ml
  • Teosyal® Puresense Redensity 1, Teoxane, non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, concentration: 15mg/ml

How does a Skinbooster treatment work?

Every treatment starts with the following questions: Which treatment is the most effective, safest and cheapest for you? If your goals are best met with a Skinbooster treatment, a treatment plan with these hyaluronic injections will be drawn up. As a rule, we can fulfill the frequently expressed wish for treatment immediately after the consultation. For this purpose, we store the high-quality ready-to-use syringes from the various hyaluronic acid filler manufacturers with different concentrations in a safe environment. In consultation with you, the most suitable treatment will be selected according to the treatment plan discussed with you.

In order to better assess the effect of the injections, the appearance of the skin is precisely documented before and after the treatment. The application of a local anesthetic cream ensures that the treatment is very painless. Cooling the skin also reduces the perception of pain and prevents the formation of bruising. The use of pain medication is possible but rarely necessary. Hyaluronic acid injections are carried out under strict hygiene measures after careful disinfection of the skin with an alcohol solution. The Skinbooster is injected into the planned regions at intervals of around one centimeter using the finest cannulas. The hyaluronic acid gel is injected systematically according to the treatment plan in the specified order and quantity of hyaluronic acid. As a rule, 0.02 ml of the dermal filling substance is injected at intervals of one centimeter. For deeper wrinkles, such as those found on mature skin, wrinkle injections are carried out at shorter intervals. Skin elasticity, thickness and texture are decisive for the amount of skin booster required. As a guide, approximately one milliliter per side is required for treating the cheeks and jawline, half a milliliter for the mouth area, two milliliters for the décolleté and half a milliliter per side for the back of the hands.

It is possible and also recommended to combine the treatment with injections of a muscle-relaxing agent. The effect can also be enhanced by supplementary treatment with the body’s own blood. Furthermore, skin pigmentation can be significantly improved with a microneedling treatment if desired. A volume build-up to rejuvenate certain areas of the face is also known as a liquid lift.

For optimum results, the Skinbooster treatment should be repeated three times at four-week intervals. Once the desired goal has been achieved, it is sufficient to repeat the treatment every six to twelve months. We strongly advise against attempting an independent application with hyaluronic acid pre-filled syringes. Skinbooster therapy should always be carried out by highly qualified specialists in order to be carried out under the safest possible circumstances. This is how you achieve the desired result: a natural and healthy complexion.

What are the risks of a Skinbooster treatment?

Frequently asked questions relate to possible side effects or rare complications. However, as the body’s own substance does not differ from stabilized hyaluronic acid, as found in the products, only a slight swelling and slight redness is generally to be expected after the injection treatment if the skin is sensitive. As a preventative measure, we recommend cooling the treated areas before and after treatment. In most patients, the mild side effects have subsided by the next day. Make-up can be applied as usual from the following day. Since non-cross-linked and low-concentration hyaluronic acid is injected into superficial layers of the skin, slight irregularities must be expected after the treatment. A light massage usually causes small nodules to disappear by the third day. Inflammation or allergic reactions are extremely unlikely. Injury to small blood vessels can never be completely ruled out with an injection. Nevertheless, bruises are rare. The risk of vascular occlusion during Skinbooster treatment is estimated to be less than 1:10,000. The aesthetic medicine specialists at CenterPlast always take every possible precaution to avoid any risks. Thanks to their comprehensive training, many years of experience and modern technical equipment, the CenterPlast specialists are well prepared for any emergency.

Collagen build-up with poly-L-lactic acid

Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) consists of long lactic acid chains. In the body, lactic acid is produced in the muscles when sugar is broken down. . PLLA is made from corn and is broken down in the body into water and carbon dioxide. Polylactic acid was first described by Carothers in 1932 [6] . Since 1972, PLLA has been used worldwide and frequently in absorbable sutures (Vicryl®, Ethicon). PLLA is also a main component of absorbable sutures for thread lifts (Silhouette Soft®, Silhouette InstaLift® from Sinclaire). PLLA has been approved for skin rejuvenation in Europe since 1999 and in the USA since 2009. By injecting PLLA microparticles, connective tissue cells (fibroblasts) are stimulated to produce collagen. The demonstrable effects of PLLA are:

  • Increase in skin elasticity
  • Increase in skin moisture
  • Reduction of skin redness
  • Reduction of pigmentation spots
  • Reduction of the pore size
  • Reduction of skin wrinkles [7]

The effect of PLLA can be demonstrated on the nasolabial folds for over 3 years and is therefore more long-lasting than resorbable fillers [8] . PLLA microparticles have a diameter of 40 to 63 micrometers and are dissolved with sterile water. The small diameter of the particles, correct dilution and professional injection are crucial for safe and good results. Slight temporary side effects such as redness and swelling occur in only 3.4 percent of patients. The risk of developing palpable nodules is only 0.4 to 4.7 percent [9] . The nodules can simply disappear with a cortisone injection. You should therefore place yourself in the hands of qualified and experienced specialists, as they know what to do even in the event of rare complications and can treat them quickly and safely.

Collagen build-up with Radiesse®

Radiesse® is a tissue filler made of calcium hydroxyapatite and carboxymethylcellulose, which has been approved in Europe since 2003 and in the USA since 2006 (Merz). Calcium hydroxyapatite is a natural component of bone and carboxymethylcellulose is a thickening and binding agent that is also found in many foods. Radiesse® is suitable for the treatment of deep wrinkles and cheek augmentation. The calcium hydroxyapatite microparticles have a diameter of 25 to 45 micrometers and stimulate the body’s own collagen production. The correction of wrinkles and lack of volume with Radiesse® lasts for around 18 months. Radiesse® is not suitable for superficial treatment of the skin or treatment of the mouth area. The most common side effects of Radiesse® treatment are the formation of palpable nodules in around 3 percent of cases [10]. We recommend that you only seek treatment from qualified doctors.

How long does a Skinbooster treatment last?

After three applications at four-week intervals, 77 percent of patients are satisfied with the results after six months [11]. The newly formed collagen remains in the skin for decades. Benefits can therefore be expected over a longer period of time [12]. Since the appearance of the skin is influenced by many circumstances, the sustainability of a Skinbooster treatment is not exactly predictable. For example, environmental factors, cigarette smoking and body weight fluctuations have a detrimental effect on the result. Good skin care with UV protection and the combination with other procedures, on the other hand, ensure particularly long-lasting results. The combination of skin boosters with the application of a muscle-relaxing active ingredient leads to greater skin hydration, elasticity and finer skin texture than a hyaluronic acid treatment alone [13]. The combination of a hyaluronic acid injection with a treatment using the body’s own blood also produces noticeably better results than the respective treatment on its own [14].

Skinbooster for acne scars

Acne scars can cause considerable suffering. Hyaluronic acid treatment can significantly improve the appearance of acne scars [15]. Sunken (atrophic) scars are caused by severe inflammation and injury to deep layers of the skin. Acne scars are divided into three types:

  • Scars reminiscent of chickenpox scars (boxcar scars): U-shaped, diameter 1.5 to 4 millimeters
  • Wavy scars (rolling scars): M-shaped, diameter greater than four millimeters
  • Worm-like scars (ice-pick scar): V-shaped, diameter less than two millimeters, most common type of acne scar

The result and longevity of the hyaluronic acid treatment depend not only on the hyaluronic acid and the injection technique, but also on the type of scar. The best results with hyaluronic acid treatment are achieved with soft atrophic U-shaped or M-shaped scars. One treatment usually requires two milliliters of hyaluronic acid per half of the face. For the best possible result, the treatment should be repeated three times at intervals of four weeks. Studies show that the combination of a hyaluronic acid injection with a microneedling treatment is more effective.

Skinbooster versus microneedling

The effectiveness of microneedling treatment depends, among other things, on the depth of penetration of the fine needles. CenterPlast uses the most effective form of needling with 2 to 3 millimeter long needles (surgical needling). Needling can be performed with a pen-shaped device (dermapen) or a roller-like instrument (dermaroller). Both skin boosters and microneedling improve the elasticity and moisture of sun-damaged or pre-aged skin. Both procedures should be used three times for optimum effect. The treatments differ in terms of downtime and reasons for treatment. With a Skinbooster treatment, you will be fit for social life again after just a few hours. In the first five days after a needling treatment, you should expect a noticeable reddening of the face. The effectiveness of both procedures has been scientifically proven for the treatment of acne scars [17]. The microneedling procedure is more suitable for the treatment of stretch marks and scars [18]. Microneedling treatment has also proven effective in the treatment of hormone-induced hair loss [19]. We recommend combining both procedures to rejuvenate the skin on the face or décolleté.

Skinbooster versus mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a technique in which a mixture of plant extracts, homeopathic active ingredients, growth factors or vitamins are injected under the skin. Mesotherapy is very popular with alternative practitioners. Despite its appeal as a supposed rejuvenating injection, the effectiveness of mesotherapy treatment is still unclear. There are no high-quality studies that prove the superiority of mesotherapy over the Skinbooster treatment. A comparative study of treatment with processed autologous blood and mesotherapy in only twenty patients indicates the superiority of the former form of treatment [20]. We evaluate each treatment according to its scientifically proven benefits. You can also find more information on our serious health information page.
